There are so many inspiring fresh spring fashions out there right now, and I’ve really got the itch to go on a shopping spree!! But I’ve been trying to suppress the urge and work with what I’ve got. And what I’ve got is lots of clothes, and loads of fabric. I recently bought this great book called Sewing In a Straight Line, by Brett Bara.
This book is amazing!!! Its great for people just starting out sewing, or people who have been sewing for ages. All of the projects in this book are using a basic straight line stitch, and nothing more. I could not believe all of the projects from clothes, to handbags, to bedding, to gifts. It is beautifully written, and I have found her wording to be very concise. The instruction is great in this book, no muss, no fuss. I highly recommend this book. It would be perfect to try if you are thinking about learning how to sew.
I recently made two skirts from a project in this book called the 1 Hour Skirt. It really took only about an hour once I got going.
I used a medium weight cotton fabric for the first skirt. I actually bought this fabric at the thrift store for $1!!! Added bonus!

The second skirt, I used chiffon, which was a little more tedious trying to get the right thread tension and needle. It took me a little over an hour for the chiffon because I used a stabilizer for the side seams.
I would be more than happy to share more info on this book for anyone interested!. I hope this sparks a little inspiration for your day...Enjoy!!!
